How far away are black holes

This is a list of known black holes that are close to the Solar System, which Earth is part of. It is thought that most black holes are solitary, but black holes in binary or larger systems are much easier to detect. Solitary black holes can generally only be detected by measuring their gravitational distortion of the light from more distant objects. As of February 2024, only one isolated black hole has been detected, OGLE-2011-BLG-0462, around 5,200 light-years away. Web11 apr. 2024 · Furthermore, we illustrate how the standard distance in moduli space can be related asymptotically to the black hole mass. We also compute a measure of the …

Web23 jun. 2016 · Orbiting a black hole is no more or less dangerous than orbiting a small sun: You get too close, bad things happen. If your orbit decays without correction, you are going to be obliterated. As long as you properly insert yourself into an orbit at a safe distance at the appropriate velocity, there is no particular danger from a black hole. WebThe black hole doesn't have a surface, but the Schwarzschild radius is point of no return. However it is not possible to orbit just above the Schwartzchild radius. If you are less than 1.5 radii from the event horizon, there are no orbits. The orbital velocity closer to a black hole than 1.5 radii would be greater than the speed of light.
